Jira is a software application used to track and manage issues within a project. It is commonly used by software development teams to track and manage software bugs and new features. Jira also supports issue tracking for other types of projects such as customer service, accounting, and human resources.

In this article, we will try to cover the basic steps involved in how to change and customize your Jira Avatar.

What is Jira Avatar?

Jira Avatar is an add-on for Jira that allows users to upload an avatar, or profile picture, to their Jira account. This avatar will be displayed next to the user’s name on all Jira pages, making it easier for other users to identify them. (50gram)

It is particularly useful for large organizations where there are many users with similar names. It can also be helpful for users if they share common names.

Jira Avatar Feature – Explained

Jira’s avatar feature allows users to select an image to represent their account. This can help others quickly identify who they are communicating with, or simply add a personal touch to their account.

Once an avatar has been selected, it can be used in several ways within Jira. For example, avatars can be used as part of the user’s profile page or they can be used as icons next to comments and issues.

Avatars can also be used to help identify users in the Jira software itself. For example, when viewing a list of issues, the avatar will be displayed next to each issue’s author.

Jira’s avatar feature is a great way to add a personal touch to your account and to help others quickly identify who they are communicating with.

Steps to Upload Your Jira Avatar

Step 1: To upload an avatar, click the “Profile” icon in the top navigation bar and click “Profile” from the dialogue box.

Step 2: On the “Profile page”, click on the default profile image icon and you get two options.

Step 3: To add an avatar (image) to your profile, click on “change profile photo” and then you can “upload or drag and drop” the image from your desktop or drive.

Step 4: To add initials to your profile, click on “custom initials avatar” and then choose the background color from the given options, type the initials you prefer, and click on update.

Note: Once your avatar has been uploaded, it will be visible to all other Jira users. If you ever need to change your avatar, simply click the “Edit Profile” icon again and upload a new image.

Simon Calder

Chris “Simon” Calder was working as a Project Manager in IT for one of Los Angeles’ most prestigious cultural institutions, LACMA. He taught himself to use Microsoft Project from a giant textbook and hated every moment of it. Online learning was in its infancy then, but he spotted an opportunity and made an online MS Project course - the rest, as they say, is history!
