Can I sample a course I'm interested in before I sign up for a membership?
Absolutely. You can sample several segments of any course we offer, allowing you to hear the teacher's voice and see the visuals. Just click onto our
course list page, then click on the "try" button next to the course of your choosing. That will take you to a page that tells about the course and that lists out the tutorials (training video segments) included in the course. Click on any tutorial title that has the "Free" button beside it to launch that video. After that you can subscribe for a membership, which allows you unlimited access not only to that course but to all Simon Sez IT courses during the time you are a member.
I'm only interested in taking one course, not in multiple courses.
Most customers consider it more cost-effective to sign up for a monthly or yearly online membership. Often a person starts out thinking they are interested in learning just one particular software program. Then when they master that software, they feel confident and encouraged to tackle yet another. With the membership option, they can take as many courses as they like for no extra charge. This is why we do not sell isolated courses on the Simon Sez IT website, but do offer over 40 courses for the price of one.

Who are the voices I hear in the videos?
We have a number of teachers. Each one is a highly experienced software technician selected for his or her thorough knowledgeable of the software application to be taught.
How long are the courses and the tutorials?
The running time of a course can be from one to ten hours. (Average is about six hours.) The running time of a tutorial (video) can be less than one minute (for an introductory segment) all the way up to 20 minutes. A course is made up of a number of tutorials.

When I start a video on the DVD using Internet Explorer, I get a blank page with no video. Why is that?
For DVDs with a red cover or label:
You may be using the newest version of Internet Explorer – IE 9. If you are using IE 9, you likely have security feature preventing the video from starting. There are a few workarounds outlined in this video:
Using Internet Explorer Version 9 When I start a video on the DVD using Google Chrome, I get a blank page with no video. Why is that?
For DVDs with a blue cover or label:
If you have a black screen while using the Google Chrome web browser, the issue is with a recent Google Chrome update. The update is preventing the videos from playing and we have contacted Google regarding this issue. There are a couple of interim options until Google resolves this issue:
- Change your default web browser to another browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox)
- Uninstall Chrome
- Open the training with another browser. To do this, please follow these steps:
- ->Using your mouse, right click on the application shortcut on your desktop e.g. “Learn Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010”
- -> A gray box will appear with an option to "Open With"
- -> Select “Internet Explorer or Firefox”
- -> Once the training page is open, you can add a bookmark/favorite to the training page
Can I view SimonSezIT.com on the iPad, iPhone, or other portable devices?
Viewing SimonSezIT.com content on portable devices is currently supported for both the iPad and iPhone. Some Android devices with Flash support are compatible.
How do I view the videos on my iPad?
If the videos are not playing on your iPad, and you are only getting a black screen, please follow these steps:
- Click on the Settings icon on the homepage of your iPad. The settings icon is the icon that looks like gears turning.
- On the left side, click on “Safari”.
- On the right side, ensure "Private Browsing" is set to “Off”.
